Relaxation - The Nordik Way
Back in 2018, my mom and I had the amazing opportunity to visit the Nordik Spa in Chelsea, QC. The spa is located about 15-20 minutes away from Ottawa, and is absolutely visually and mentally stunning. It consists of 10 baths (varying from 10 degree water all the way to 40 degree water) and 9 saunas! Not to mention the absolutely beautiful landscaping! This spa focuses mainly on thermotherapy and relaxation inspired by Scandinavian countries.

We were greeted by welcoming staff, to ensure that all of the arrangements that we had, were settled and we were able to enjoy the Spa grounds without any fuss.
We were told to follow some footsteps on the floor to enter our change room, and locker area, change into our bathing suits and robes - and get comfortable.
Our first stop, of course, was a late lunch.

The part of the restaurant where we sat, was enclosed by all window walls, so as we enjoyed our lunch - we were able to enjoy the scenery, and take in the beautiful views.

After lunch, it was time to explore.

We were greeted by beautiful hot water and cold water pools, waterfalls, beautiful cottage type buildings, fire pits and saunas.

There are 3 sections of the spa, to ensure maximum relaxation for different people.
The Kaskad section - which is the complete silence section
The Borëa section - which is the whisper section
The Panorama section - which is where you can be as loud as you want (obviously with respect to others)
My mom and I spent most of our time during the day in the Panorama section, enjoying the views of the mountains and the hot water!

Around 6pm, we had scheduled a full body "Couples Massage" which, you know - was just me and my mama. Let me tell you how amazing this massage was! The lady who did it for me, was always checking on me to make sure I was okay with the movements and the pressures, and to ensure I was super comfortable! I will say - if you do book a massage, if you were in the water before the massage, and your robe is wet - it is not pleasant to get back into a cold robe after being so relaxed and cozy on the massage table. However, that is something that can be avoided (just as a warning).

One of the last treatments we decided to try out was the Källa Treatment*. This is basically an experience all on its own - the room is silent and the water is filled with 10 tons of Epsom salt in 1,200 cubic feet of water. As soon as you plop yourself into the water - you float! They say it’s a better experience then the Dead Sea, and by visiting the Dead Sea 4 years ago - I can agree. There’s no pain felt from scratches or any razor burns and the experience is more calming and serene. It was absolutely amazing and a serene experience.
PS: there are only 2 of these types of pools in the world - the other is in Switzerland!

This spa is definitely and experience that you should do at least once in your life, and its great because you can experience it alone, with a friend, with a family member or with a significant other!
Thank you so much to Marianne at the Nordik Team!
*Disclaimer: This post was not sponsored, however Marianne did provide my mom and I with entrance to the Källa treatment. Everything else was purchased by us. All thoughts are my own.
Until next time!
